Rev. Walker is a native of Canton, Mississippi and the son of the late Jessie Walker, Sr. and Willie Lee Walker. He attended Canton Public Schools and the Mississippi Baptist Seminary. Rev. Walker has been an ordained minister for 36 years. He accepted his call to the ministry in 1974 and preached his first sermon at his home church, New Bethel M.B.Church.
Pastor Walker has served as Pastor of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church for 16 years where he oversees over 400 members. Under his leadership, the New Bethel Church family has experienced enormous growth. Some of his many accomplishments at New Bethel as Pastor include ordaining fourteen(14) deacons, annual health screenings, annual church outings, back-to-school rallys, new member orientation class, outreach ministry, transportation ministry, major renovations to the existing sanctuary, parking lot additions, and full-time worship service. Rev. Walker, led by the spirit of God is leading the efforts of the New Bethel Church family to build a Family Life Center to the church.
Pastor Walker is an active member of the General Missionary Baptist State Convention of Mississippi and the Madison County Baptist Association.
Pastor Walker is married to Florida Williams Walker and the proud father of three sons, Dennis, James and Rev. Frederick. He is also the proud grandfather of fourteen (14) grandchildren.
Out of all of his accomplishments and community involvement, the most important aspect of his life is that he is a true servant anointed by God to preach the gospel. His goal is to continue to touch souls within the church and community “Reaching the Lost At Any Cost”.
God has commissioned me to preach the gospel and lead his sheep……… "Feed my sheep” John 21:15-17. As the under shepherd of this great sheep fold, I welcome you and encourage you all to be of one mind, of one body and be in one spirit in Christ Jesus. Remembering I Corinthians 12: 11-13, “But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.
